Bill comes come from a pastoral background, having pastored churches in: Papua New Guinea, East Malaysia – on the island of Borneo, Southern California, Minnesota, Ohio and Maryland. In 2003, He stepped out of the traditional church pastoral role to become a full-time wedding officiant and marriage coach. This was the area of pastoral work that he really enjoyed. He loves officiating weddings, as it is the happiest and most positive time in a couple’s life.
Joyce, a registered nurse, has always worked at Bill’s side through the years to assist him in weddings, ceremony planning, rehearsals and counseling. Since she was ordained as a minister in 2007 she also loves officiating weddings.
Though we don’t require couples we marry to have pre-marriage counseling/coaching, we do believe it is a great investment in a couple’s ability to live “happily ever after”.
Bill and Joyce married in 1969 and we like to think that we have a great marriage relationship! However, to be honest, we never had the opportunity to receive pre-marriage coaching and realize now how much easier some of those early years would have been, had we realized what we were getting ourselves in to when we said “I do!”
We’re idealistic enough to believe that every marriage relationship should be the greatest experience of one’s life. We don’t believe it is an easy thing to figure out how to get used to each other’s unique characteristics, it took us awhile to realize that we could adore each other in spite of the differences we both brought to the relationship. In fact, it is those very differences that attracted us to each other in the first place that easily became annoyances we had to work our way through.
